Overdraft Services FAQ
What is an overdraft?
An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your checking account to cover a transaction, but we pay it anyway.
We can cover your overdrafts in two different ways:
- We have standard overdraft practices that come with your account.
- We also offer overdraft protection plans, such as a link to a savings account, credit card, or line of credit which may be less expensive than our standard overdraft practices. To learn more or submit a request for an overdraft protection plan, please visit our contact us page.
What are the standard overdraft practices that come with my account?
We do authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions:
- Checks and other transactions made using your checking account number
- Automatic bill payments
We do not authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions, unless you ask us to. (Our online secure form on this page will allow you to Opt In with the Overdraft Service Preference form.):
- ATM transactions
- Everyday debit card transactions
What if I want Azura to authorize and pay overdrafts on my ATM and debit card transactions?
In order for Azura to pay overdrafts created by your ATM and debit card transactions, you must select Opt-In on this electronic secure form. You may also contact Azura toll free at 1.800.432.2470 or visit one of our branches. If you were mailed an updated disclosure you may complete, sign and return by mail with the provided stamped envelope.
Will all of my transactions that overdraft my account always get paid?
Azura pays overdrafts at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction. If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, the transaction will be declined.
What happens if my overdraft transactions are not paid?
If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, the transaction will be declined and a return item charge will be applied.
What fees will I be charged if Azura pays my overdraft?
- We will charge you a fee of $24 each time we pay an overdraft.
- There is no limit on the total fees we can charge you for overdrawing your account.
What if I change my mind and no longer want to be Opted In?
You may cancel your Opt In designation at any time and we will no longer authorize and pay overdrafts on ATM and everyday debit card transactions. To remove your Opt In Overdraft Protection service, you can call us at 1.800.432.2470 or stop by any location to request and update this form.
Whether you select to Opt In or Opt Out, we would appreciate your assistance by designating your preference on this secure electronic document.
